A return window is only one line of the policy. Check when the clock starts, product-condition rules, fees, shipping, and refund method.

"30-day returns" is incomplete. The useful policy tells you when day one begins, what condition is required, who pays shipping, how the refund arrives, and which products are excluded.

Before checkoutOpen the full policy, search it for your product category, and save the version that applies to the order. If a material term is missing, ask the seller in writing.

Calculate the return-adjusted price

For a hard-to-fit, fragile, or unfamiliar product, include the likely return cost in your comparison. A $20 saving is not a saving when return freight is $35 and the refund loses the original delivery charge.

Return-adjusted costCheckout total + likely return shipping + non-refundable fees + value of time needed to return

Ask precise questions

Replace "Can I return it?" with: "May I open and test this exact item, return it within 30 days of delivery, and receive the purchase price to my original payment method? Which shipping or restocking charges would I pay?" Save the reply with the order.

Low frictionClear start date, reasonable testing, prepaid label, no hidden fee, original-payment refund.
ManageableBuyer-paid shipping with a predictable amount and enough time to inspect.
High frictionVague condition test, approval required, variable fee, store credit only, or international return address.

After delivery

Inspect the parcel promptly. Photograph damage, serial numbers, seals, and missing parts before use. Start any return in the required channel, keep tracking, and retain proof of delivery until the refund is complete.
